A popular and beautiful part of Ireland, County Cork on the South West has a magnificent Atlantic Coastline, with numerous Bays and Coves contrasting with the rolling farmland away from the Coast. Ireland’s largest county is home to Blarney Castle and Bantry. A great place for fishing and sailing, there are many pubs and quiet villages to discover.
The Carberrys -so called from Lord Carberry who owned most of South West Cork until the land reform- is one of the most picturesque and welcoming part of Ireland. Many days can be spent exploring the region, or just relaxing in the tranquility of your stone-built farmhouse. Some Ideas for exporing the area are:

Explore the local prehistoric stone circles. This part of the world is full of them !
Visit the many quaint fishing villages in the region and tasting some of the freshest seafood in Ireland
Drive to the famous Ring of Kerry and Ring of Beare on easy day trips
Walk the many trails along the coastline and the forests in the region
Rent a boat from Baltimore, a short drive from the house, to enjoy Roaring Water Bay's hundred islands
Drive along the coast to Mizen Head the Southern most tip of ireland.
Take the lovely road to 17th Century Bantry House, or go further into the magnificient mountains.
Visit the picturesque Castletownsend, seat of Somerville and Ross, authors of the Irish RM
Drive a short distance to Beautiful Glandore.
Visit the local markets full of local produce in Skibbereen (Friday and Saturdays) and Clonakilty (Thursday and Saturday).

GETTING HERE:

You can fly either Ryanair or Aer Lingus to Cork, Kerry or Shannon where you can rent a car. The house is 65 Kms from the Cork airport.

Numerous ferries are available from the UK and France, some of them directly into Cork which is then less than an hours drive from the house.
